Daniel and Nikki met at Mercer University in 1998 when she was a freshman and he was a sophomore. We started dating shortly after a trip to to Daniel’s home country of Guatemala where we were doing volunteer work. We dated through college and married just a few weeks after graduation. Many have said that they never would have put us together and it is true that we are an Odd Kouple. Daniel is a tech geek, Nikki is a little granola. Daniel loves sports, Nikki loves to study. Daniel is a little thuggy, Nikki is a little prissy, Daniel loves the action movies, Nikki loves artsy movies. Daniel leans a little to the right and Nikki leans way to the left. Daniel likes his alone time, Nikki would do everything together if they could. So, you see, we are a little different and it is a wonder we work. But we do, because we love each other deeply and we love to watch each other grow and enjoy life.
Lest you think we have nothing in common, we both love to travel and we both love to laugh and we both love to watch the other enjoy the things they enjoy. We love trying new restaurants and we love going on adventures together. We have each enjoyed living into being parents and we both love our beautiful daughter, Natalie more than we can describe. Natalie is the delight of our life and we are amazed daily at how she grows and learns.
Also, we now have this blog in common. We enjoy creating things together and this is another way for us to explore those creative energies. We will write about love, life, and the things that interest us. We hope that you enjoy what we create here and find it entertaining, encouraging, and maybe even informative.
A little more about us. We have an eight year old long-legged basset hound named Emma who would let you pet her all day if you had the time. We also have an eight year old 1/2 mancoon 1/2 tabby cat names Xela. She is an ornery cat who thinks she own the house, but she is family and we love her.

Daniel, after reading this blog about you and your wonderful family, it is obvious we have many things in common. I am a multi-cultural person as well, born in Naples, Italy. Your humor, your love of your family and the desire to help the people of the world, endear your family in my heart.
Wishing all of you: joy, happiness, endless experiences of wonder, and abundant love. My prayers will follow you on your travels.
Please add a picture of the 3 of you, we need to see the family group!

Hey Daniel and Nikki,
My name is Charlotte Patel. I was led to your blog from a friend of mine. My husband, Naren, and I went through exactly what you are going through 2 years ago. Our little Carrie Ashley had full T18 and was born at 38 weeks. She lived 114 days. I will be praying for all of you. If you want to hear my story or “talk” please feel free to email me.

Ray and I continue to lift you up before our loving Lord. Little Aiden is fearfully and wonderfully made, unique and precious. His little life is already generating so much love and learning in so many people. God is so good…all the time. May you feel His peace and love extra good today.
